Principal's Message

Welcome to Walnut Bend Elementary School!

Alecia McMillian is the proud principal of Walnut Bend Elementary. She brings over two decades of dedication and experience in education to our campus. She began her journey in the classroom, spending 10 meaningful years teaching 1st through 3rd grade in Montessori settings. In 2013, she joined Houston ISD as the Magnet Coordinator at Dodson Montessori, and later served as Assistant Principal at Daily Elementary for 8 years. Her exceptional leadership was recognized district-wide when she was named HISD’s 2022 Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year.

Since stepping into the role of Principal at Walnut Bend, Mrs. McMillian has led with vision, heart, and a relentless commitment to student success. Under her leadership, Walnut Bend has seen significant academic progress—including raising the TEA accountability rating from an F to a B. This growth reflects her focus on high-quality instruction, collaboration, and creating a culture where every student can thrive.

Mrs. McMillian holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern A&M University and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Sam Houston State University. She is proud to serve the Walnut Bend community and looks forward to continuing to build strong partnerships with families, staff, and students.
